The most picturesque circular village in Alsace
Eguisheim, named ‘the most beautiful village in France’ and ‘the French people’s favourite village’ in 2013, charms visitors with its unique circular layout: three concentric streets surrounding the imperial castle. The brightly coloured half-timbered houses, fountains and flower-bedecked windows make it a picture-postcard setting.
On the wine route
Eguisheim is also a key stop on the Wine Route, with its renowned estates (Léon Beyer, Domaine Paul Ginglinger). Allow 2–3 hours for a leisurely visit, including a meal and wine tasting. It’s absolutely stunning at Christmas time.
