In the footsteps of the Guebwiller potter
Théodore Deck (1823–1891), born in Guebwiller, was one of the greatest ceramicists of the 19th century. He headed the Sèvres National Porcelain Manufactory and revolutionised glazing techniques. The Théodore Deck Museum houses the world’s finest collection of his works: earthenware, dishes, vases and decorative panels featuring flamboyant glazes.
A lovely local find
The museum also houses collections of archaeology and local history, housed in a beautiful building in the heart of Guebwiller. Allow a good hour for your visit. It’s ideal on a rainy day or as a break from exploring the historic centre.
