Hugstein Castle, romantic ruins overlooking Buhl

📍 5 km · ⏱ 10 minutes by car

A medieval ruin overlooking Florival

Hugstein Castle, built in the 13th century by the abbots of Murbach, overlooks the Florival Valley from its rocky outcrop. Although it has been in ruins since the 17th century, it still stands today as a magnificent example of medieval defensive architecture and offers exceptional views.

A lovely walk from Buhl

There are several paths leading to the castle; the shortest one starts from the village of Buhl (a 45-minute walk each way). It’s ideal for a half-day out in the countryside, complete with a picnic. Splendid views over Guebwiller and the vineyards.
